Slantt Amalfi Collection

Earlier this year I came across a new-to-me jewelry designer, Jennifer Rodgers of Slantt, on Instagram and I was instantly a fan. My husband gave me the Freya earrings from her last collection for my 30th birthday, and since then they have been my go-tos for everything from special occasions to everyday wear. Without a doubt, they are the most versatile and striking earrings I own. Jennifer recently released her Winter 2017 collection, Amalfi, and it’s more beautiful than I imagined.

“Guided by a modern and organic sensibility, her jewelry is designed to be distinct while speaking to the individuality of the wearer. Interaction, form, and process are the designer’s focus, and the line continues to evolve while remaining close to the core ideals of modernism and the careful practice of a small studio.” –Jennifer Rodgers, Slantt

Each piece is handmade by Jennifer in her Austin, TX studio with a focus on ethical and sustainable techniques and materials. The Amalfi collection features hand formed, cut, and hammered silver and brass with soft curves and waves–like earrings in contrasting shapes and textures that can move with you for a bit of drama, or bracelets and rings that feel grounded and bold with their organic ridges and folds. These elegant silhouettes offer dimension and personality–everything you could want in a statement piece. See the entire collection here and be sure to browse more of Jennifer’s gorgeous goods.

Pink for Fall

Pink for Fall | Good Bones

Pink for Fall | Good Bones

When I won a gift card from Goodwin several weeks ago, I knew exactly what I wanted to spend it on. There were several sneak peeks on Instagram of a dusty rose top that I couldn’t stop thinking about. When Goodwin’s Fall collection dropped (it’s so good), I snatched one up quickly, and I’m so glad I did! I tend to skew towards black, cream, and tan, but I didn’t realize quite how limited my wardrobe palette is until several people mentioned what a great new color this is on me. Often I admire certain hues on others but never feel like they fit into my wardrobe–I can’t see myself in them. I’m excited to know I was wrong. Not only is the color beautiful, but the top, made by Hackwith Design House exclusively for Goodwin, is one of those double duty pieces that my life and limited clothing budget requires. Made of a soft, comfortable textured cotton, the Aysha top is reversible and the flattering wrap silhouette and balloon sleeves mean it easily makes a statement. I’ve reached for it several times since it arrived. It’s a stunning piece with thoughtful details, both playful and sophisticated, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with it. This top is sold out, but another limited batch is coming soon in a different color. I definitely see more wrap tops in my future, and more from the always stunning collections at Goodwin!

Collection Seven from New York based Gamma Folk is a statement lover’s dream. Rough textured and subdued neutrals pair well with the more bold hues, adding unexpected dimension to these beautiful sculptural pieces–art for both body and home. The collection features handformed clay and naturally dyed materials, woven details, and elemental modern shapes that provide a major dose of tactile intrigue. I’m especially in love with the Ionia Earrings, Agni Earrings (you can’t go wrong with mix-and-match earrings), Myrto Vessel, and Zois Wall Hanging. Take a look and shop the full collection here.

I’ve been inspired to go a bit outside my norm with these luxurious hues–emerald, bordeaux, and stone to transition to those crisp, cozy days we’re finally having, and there’s even have a little holiday vibe going on. I’m in love.

My fascination with distinct and elegant shapes that can be worn shows no sign of stopping, which is why I was thrilled when Sophie Mckay reached out about her gorgeous line Bar Jewellery. Immediately I was taken with the pared down combination of delicate twists and weighty, geometric designs. Collection 1 perfectly balances soft curves and angular lines to become a powerhouse of refined statement pieces.

The name Bar comes from the idea of being stripped back to basics, akin to the minimal and unapologetic bar form that metal takes before being made into jewellery.

The first collection by Bar Jewellery is an eclectic mix of abstract, sculptural pieces and redesigned classics, heavily inspired by the sculpture of mid century modernist masters such as Constantin Brancusi and Jean Arp. –Bar Jewellery

Sophie began creating pieces in her home with the goal of inspiring positivity and responsibility, encouraging others to see beyond current trends. Bar is handmade and sustainably sourced, cast, and finished in the London, and will soon expand to include vintage pieces to further encourage others to make conscious purchases.

My hope for the accessories I choose is that in their form they possess a quiet sort of appeal, one that inspires confidence and excitement each time they are worn. I love the idea of turning a basic form into something unique, something that stays with you year after year. Bar Jewellery and its architectural and sculptural details–at once both modern and timeless–are perfect for wearing with simplicity and ease. To me, these are the hallmarks of a beautiful, thoughtful piece.

I’m absolutely in love with the small Wave ring, Arco bracelet, large Calla necklace, and Solis earrings. Be sure to check out the entire dreamy lookbook and the shop!

Young Frankk FW 2016

Young Frankk FW 2016

Young Frankk FW 2016

Christine Young of Young Frankk consistently designs the most beautiful and easy to wear jewelry that becomes more refined and striking with every season. I haven’t always considered myself a jewelry person, but it was Young Frankk, based in Richmond, Virginia, that helped to change my mind. The Dawn studs from a previous season are still a favorite that I reach for often, so I can’t wait to get my hands on a few things from the Fall/Winter collection. It features fresh and intriguing shapes that are never overdone, bringing that subtle considered edge to any look. The organic curves in her designs are delicate yet effortlessly make a bold statement. I’m especially drawn to the Circle Earrings, Mini Trine Necklace, and Orb Cuff in sterling silver. This is without a doubt my favorite Young Frankk collection yet.

Summer Ready

Now that the new season is here I’m looking forward to getting out and having some fun despite the triple digit temperatures we’re already having. Here are a few pretty things to go along with my plans for a well-spent summer.

// A blanket for picnics in the shade and jazz in the park.
// I didn’t go swimming once last year so my goal is to correct that this summer. I’d love to sport this swimsuit for dips in the pool and hopefully a trip to the beach.
// David and some friends started a chess club at our bookstore and it’s been fun to watch everyone play. I’m interested in learning how, with a beautiful and minimal chess set, of course.
// The perfect summer tee.
// A good book for lazy days and nights.
// Versatile and comfortable woven shoes for those hot days I don’t want to think too hard about what to wear.
// Statement earrings to elevate all the easy summer dresses I’ve been wearing.
// I’ve always been convinced I’m not a hat person, but this beauty from Brookes Boswell has me changing my tune.
// The moisturizer to end all moisturizers. This one has been doing wonders for my skin (I use it as both a moisturizer and a cleanser) and I plan to keep it in my small but powerful arsenal for a subtle summer glow.

Everyday Silver

Good Bones | Everyday Silver

A night of fun and dancing over the weekend resulted in the disappearance of one half of my favorite pair of earrings (seen here). For the longest time they were the only earrings I wore, and lately I’ve rotated between those, a mismatched pair of studs from Jujumade, and a lovely bone set from my best friend. It’s unfortunate to no longer have what I consider a staple, one of those pieces that effortlessly elevates an ensemble and makes me feel comfortable on the most bland of days. Earrings (and jewelry in general) are those things I love often but rarely buy because I already have the pair. The good news is there’s an enormous amount of beautiful and timeless work coming from independent makers and designers so if I’m patient I can find something that speaks to me just as strongly. I’m considering a more delicate pair this go-round, smaller, possibly even a single ear cuff. I love these for their sexy, subtle edge, perfect for the everyday accent.
