My philosophy when it comes to getting dressed during the summer is, “the easier, the better.” I’ve always been a fan of one-pieces, particularly the comfort and ease of a black dress. In my case, loose fitting and lately more of a midi length. It’s my signature, what I feel most confident in, and the one thing I don’t think I can have too many of. I’ve been reaching for this beautiful woven cotton number by UZI again and again these last several months. I wear it all the time–to church, art shows, the grocery store, on vacation, anywhere. The dress is functional thanks to its pockets and breathable shape but not without interest in the form of the loveliest draped neckline. This setting from a recent trip (more on that soon!) made it hard not to snap a few photos of one of my favorite pieces in action. Another I added to my closet this season is the Twist Tee Dress by Objects Without Meaning, purchased via Garmentory for a steal. Temperatures won’t start cooling down here for a long while but I’m looking forward to wearing the versatile and always polished black dresses I’ve been collecting well into the fall season.

Getting Ready for Fall

10 September, 2014

Good Bones // Getting Ready for Fall

Good Bones // Getting Ready for Fall

I took advantage of end-of-season/Labor Day sales and got a few things for fall. I will be living in these A.P.C. sweats and Black Crane top. The bag was just a little something extra to put my products in when I travel. The Mars boots were a very, very generous gift from my mother-in-law on our trip to Durham, from Vert & Vogue (a new favorite store!). They’ve been on my wishlist for so long. Rachel Comey can do no wrong.

My closet is still missing some pieces that would be good for fall layering and on into winter, to really make my wardrobe versatile. I’ve recently worn out several key items that need to be replaced, like my white tank that I mysteriously ripped at a party and beloved chambray button down shirt that was worn too thin. Even now I can’t let it go and still wear it around the house and on walks despite the many holes that have formed. I hope to get some of these items or find similar alternatives on a thrifting adventure.
