Los Angeles based wrk-shp, the design duo made up of Ryan Upton and Airi Isoda, easily earns a spot in my list of top five favorite clothing brands with their architecture inspired designs that bring a softness to the utilitarian. It’s fun to play around with bold choices, but I always feel grounded in timeless and versatile pieces like these. Simple boxy shapes, clean lines, and neutral shades are certainly having a moment, but the details in wrk-shp’s SS17 collection–a button closure or belt, the sleeves, the texture and draping–are what make it even more special. My favorite sweater from fall/winter is by wrk-shp and their spring/summer line does not disappoint.
This collection drew inspiration from Japanese architecture group SANAA, of Kazuyo Seijima & Ryue Nishizawa. Their buildings are known to use transparency and translucency with pale tones and soft curves. –wrk-shp

*Forgive me for another extended absence but I’ve had a lot going on and some lows that made blogging about clothes and interiors seem pretty disingenuous–a regular experience it seems. But today I figured I’d just go for it using whatever time I have. I’m locked away in my office with our anxious dogs while our kitchen backsplash is being installed. I can’t wait to finally reveal it!
