Things are coming together. It’s so nice to see visible progress after several months of more subtle work. All I talk about these days is the renovation, but I can’t help it. It might not seem like much, but to us it’s night and day compared to how the house started out. I’m obsessed with the white walls and refinished floors. It’s all so light and open and definitely starting to feel real. I can envision it all in my head and may have made drawings and lists of where each piece of furniture and art will likely go, because that’s not weird at all.
The custom cabinetry turned out better than expected. I was worried I’d end up hating the stain we picked out or that it would look awful with the floors, but it’s pretty perfect. There are things to be fixed and more to be built, like the pantry and bathroom cabinets, but I like what I see so far.

The bathroom is one of the spaces with the furthest to go. There was an issue with the shower tile (it wasn’t black enough for me) and a new style had to be ordered. It’ll be a while until it arrives. Still, I love the new configuration and the design of the shower. The image on the right is another shot of the master bedroom recessed shelving because I love it that much. We lost square footage in the bathroom because of them but it was worth it.
A view into the dining room featuring the only fireplace we kept. Again, I truly love the refinished floors, even here where the wood has a little more wear than in other rooms. In addition to grey concrete counters in the kitchen and bathroom we’re doing a black concrete fireplace surround. I’m so excited.
The doors in the dining room used to be nailed and painted shut but now open out onto the front porch. Such a treat.
The front door, one of our favorite features, will be painted black. Next to it is the glorious light filled living room. The living room is almost finished, more so than any other room.
The back wall of the living room is ready for our customized shelving.
New stair treads are installed.
Eventually, once the inside is finished, work on the backyard can be done. The back door will lead to the deck and patio area/fire pit. The wood area around the door and the side of the house will be painted black.
I’ll be posting more sneak peaks on Instagram soon!
