An unexpected visit to the ER on Friday (my kidney is swollen again) resulted in me spending a lot of time in bed the last few days. It’s given me a chance to think more about what makes a room relaxing–a place where I can feel calm even when circumstances are less than ideal.
Right now our room has a lot going on–it’s large and packed with furniture, patterns, and color. Here are some smartly designed things I’m coveting in my imaginary bedroom overhaul. They’d be perfect coupled with our white bed frame and the linen duvet cover I plan to get. We have so much art, pottery, and books–things that are incredibly diverse and pack a big punch when collected–so it’s nice to keep furniture more pared down to balance it out. I’m looking forward to moving some of the furniture in our room now to a different part of the house when the renovation is done this summer. Our bedroom will be smaller so I want to limit it to just a few things. Less is definitely more when it comes to decorating the bedroom. I want our space to be free of visual clutter but still cozy. Add a few plants and this just about does it.

Oh dear, I hope you feel better soon! These pieces are stunning, I’m especially love with that book case.
